Studer® A800 Multichannel Tape Recorder Plug-In Review
Well... for all you analog haters out there [maybe not a lot of UA users], I dare you to try this and not LOVE IT!! It is like the glue that holds the mix together, that makes it sound human, natural. Another winner from UA...
thanks for bringing my old friend back to me!!

best reverb ever
The best Reverb-Plugin I ever had on my PC.
I guess it uses the original algorithms.

Studer A800 delivers amazing analog texture
I can't get enough tape! After purchasing the A800 tape emulator, I've been using it on everything: drum bus, vocals, guitars...even strapping it across the master for the "old school" feel on my tracks.
Most of my work is on post audio, but I've found numerous applications for the Studer plug-in for all styles of music. Completely authentic and with a killer bank of presets, the Studer A800 is a must have for anyone with a DAW setup looking to add warmth and character to their mixes.
Outstanding!!

Really cool
The effect of the Studer is subtle but it makes things gel better. Careful with the noise settings or you'll suddenly find yourself in hiss hell. It can also be used for some really cool creative effects. It was a great buy!

Excellent emulation!
I'e always loved the 224 in the studio and this plug in is a very faithful emulation of the real thing. Now I have my own Lexicon 224 for a fraction of the cost of the original unit.

1176 even more classic
I really like the new 1176 collection, it's way better than than old, 1176,
if you need a go to compressor, this is a top candidate.

Happy Ears Indeed !
Happy Ears Indeed !
Great Reverb Plugin / has that Lexicon Space I have missed since leaving hardware land. At first I had issues with this plugin rendering 100 wet regardless of settings. UA Support was fantastic (thanks guys) and the supplied patch took care of that situation. For the price point you definitely won’t be disappointed !

I love this thing!
This is the first plug-in I bought for the apollo, so I ran the demo and all my fears were left behind. I was afraid this thing could be like the other tape-emulation plug-ins I've tested from other companies: too subtle or too harsh. If I were to spend that kind of money on it, it would have to sound great, and guess what? It does!!
I don't know if it sounds LIKE the original or not, I haven't tried it out, nor do I have the possibilities to, but anyway, what this plug-in does is absolutely great. It can be subtle, but with character, or you can damage the audio and get away with it.
The result? after using it on almost every track of a session it sounds fuller, more compact, and the low end sounds tighter.

Everyone should try a threesome!
They all have unique flavor, The price is right, and most of all you'll use them ALL THE TIME!
For in your face vocals, and slammin Drums....ALL BUTTONS IN!

effective, subtle, and musical
This plugin insert on each tracks harmonious distortion brings me to my virtual instruments. I have wished for years that sound found on LP 80 years ... here it is, and it is very effective.
That's all.
Thank's UAD!

Familiar but new
As the title suggests this is an 1176 but the tones and feel of these machines are different! Definantly recommend this I use at least one of these on every single song I make now. It's not just a repackaged 1176 it's been very much improved

fantastic
Finally bought this after loving the demo so much...its safe to say that this thing (along with a couple other special UAD plugs) bring a level of JOY to the creative process like I've never had. Only problem is now my Apollo Quad just isn't enough...I plan on buying more DSP to dedicate to this plugin and the new 1176 collection.

Fat and juicy stuff!
The 1176 collection simply rocks...
Three flavours of compression that add depth, well known simple control set. The multi button/no button modes combined with the beautiful nonlinear input/output stages make them usable for a wide of applications from transparent to heavily saturated.
No buttons + hi input settings cuts a bass through walls of guitars without sounding thin or simply distorted ;-)
For many tasks the 'old' 1176LN plugin remains more than useful - still a great thing, less dsp consumption. Those three 'new' 1176s will get used on the more 'expensive' channels here...

Nostalgia!
I have only used it on one song yet, but especially on drums, bass (and surprisingly), on vocals it adds that tape quality. It doesn't seem to use a lot of power from my UAD 2 cards, so I can actually use it on all channels (so far). I can also ditch a lot of other plug-ins when using the A-800. This is also kind of special fun since when I was active as a full-time professional engineer, this is the machine I used 80% of the time!

Fantastic
Amazing bundle, definitely my favourite software compressors. Because I think the original UAD 1176 plug is pretty decent, I was a little hesitant to even try the new versions because I didn't think that they would worth the time. Totally wrong, they use a ton of processing power, but are well worth it. So good in fact, I literally traded my EL8X Distressor for an 1176LN reissue!
Best UAD plugin, followed by the Studer and the EMT 140.
