Great Update
I didn't much rate the previous Fairchild from UAD but this update is a completely different compressor. It is awesome on pretty much everything. And with the addition of the mix nob it gives you alot more options for your mix. You can now compress hard if you want to and mix in just the amount you want. It is now my go to compresser.

Very impressed!
I was skeptical about UAD plugins being as good as people say…but, now I know they are fantastic.

Work well.
After the awful compressors Logic has to offer, these actually do their job well. Can be quite un-noticeable when doing their job which is pretty impressive. Some colour towards brightness a fair bit, for us the basic LA-2A was the most transparent.

Great in a mix
Prefer the EMT 140 for out-and-out quality, but this sits better in some mixes. Very different to the EMT and a good combination with the 140.

Does a fantastic job on vocals
It's been said a thousand times before but it does really do a fantastic job on vocals - my go to plugin together with the 1176.

beautiful
These are both excellent. The legacy 670 is quite a bit cleaner and I still choose it when I want a little less coloration. The 660 is a great addition. Highly recommended.

Nice plug in
I'm not familiar with the original. sound so I can't really compare but it sound great. I have to admit that it is not my favourite UAD plug in. I prefer to use other UAD compressors not the less it sounds great again!

Three thumbs up
I assert this to be a wonderful plugin.
It wrapped around a bass track and did not choke.
What more can a man ask for?

Worth Every Cent!!!!
I've been using Fairchild emulations for years but this is the one. It did what it was suppose to by just putting it in the insert. I use my Apollos live and this has become a staple in my live and studio setup. The way it works with the audio it's given and the way you can mix the compressed signal onto the source man that was thinking. I say yes buy it even if you have 3-4-5-6 others this will make you say WOW thats what it sounds like!!!!!!!!!!!

Warm Warm Warm
The only thing that gets warmer than the Studer A800 is the Sun,
Oh my stars , I love the warm feel of this monster in a box...

Wooow
Fully meets my expectations. It's just "must have " plug.
Thx UA for doing plugins like that.

absolute bliss
This pack has opened up so much for me in terms of options for creating the right sound for a track.
Couldn't be happier

super LA-2A
I also know some original LA-2As and the Plug-Ins are very nice done.
Using a lot on Vocals, Speak, Bassguitar and so.
The Interface with the newer Plug-Ins is also better for my eyes. I use a 27" Display far away and sometimes I can't read the things on older Plug-Ins or numbers.
Also I miss to double click numbers and enter the value by the Keypad!

Stunning!!!
in short: do not try them, otherwise you will buy them immediately!

It's so CRUNCHY!!
Never used the hardware unit so I can't compare the software to it. However, this compressor is absolutely fantastic on Drums, Snares, and for me specifically, Hip-Hop Drum Loops/Samples. The CRUNCH that it adds just makes everything sound bigger, fatter, and better! (IMO).
Send your drums to an Aux, Throw the 160 on it...compress the hell out of it and turn up the gain....then blend that back into the original drums and voila...BEEFY, CRUNCHY!
