can't live without it
since I purchased my apollo and my ampex atr102 I cannot pass without using it on the mix bus. It lives there, basically. You can get real smooth tape compression and eq out of it. MILES AWAY from every other tape emulation..

serious compressor
Perhaps the first plugin compressor I've used with total confidence. It's a clear enhancement to the legacy version and I use it a lot when tracking synths. Haven't tried the 1176 yet, but this one's a keeper.

instant fatness
until recently the AMPEX has been my go-to tape plugin. since i purchased the Oxide tape i tend to use this one more often. it´s easier and to use and eats less DSP power. i must admit the roundness and fatness this tape emulation delivers is probably far off from what a real tape recorder would do. but who cares: this Oxide plugin thing gives me that instant fatness thing. one of my favourite UAD plug-ins.

Was never really a big fan of the la2a in general. I usually reach for something with a little more character, like an 1176. But surprisingly, the la-2 is becoming a more common plugin in my work place because it actually adds a character to the sound that i feel is lost on the new 2a's

No difference to the hardware
Awesome! I do not like it to write .... I have the original hardware .... But I do and this tool sounds exactly like the hardware and the workflow is absolutely the same. This piece is a nobrainer. You can buy it without a try it's awesome and every penny is well invested even if you use it as a normal channelstrip in your daw or as the legendary unisono preamp. Rock on!

Awesome
When I bought my Apollo I had a minimal budget for plug-ins. I chose the API Vision for the greatest flexibility for the price. It totally delivers. It makes whatever you place it on sound better. The preamp gain is awesome as are the rest of the modules. I use the comp and EQ on every instance and they really help sweeten things up and help them sit in a mix. The only downside is that it is moderately resource intensive so even with a Quad you can only cover a few tracks in a mix. I also bought the SSL E Series Channel Strip which I place on every channel reserving the API for critical tracks such as main vox, bass, kick, snare, etc. I wouldn't say you can get by with just one plug-in but this is definitely the first I suggest.

Great sounding, aggressive
I love the aggressiveness of this channel strip on drums with the Neve 88RS channel strip tone on the bass. It's a match made in Heaven! I am anxiously awaiting my Apollo Duo USB so I can record through it! Great quality as always! In my home studio it's as close as I will ever come to a true analog API console.

A game changer
Among the most "bang-for-bucks" purchase that can be done on the UAD store! It took me less than 15mn, when I demoed this one for a specific mastering purpose, to realize how much it would be efficient to use it more often. From single track to master bus, every step is potentially eligible to be "taped" in the process.
I can never regret the money I spent, would even pay more if asked...

The best sounding channel strip
Great character!
I like the gate very much since transforms the transients in a very good way. Same thing with the comp.
Not 5* because it uses much DSP and I would like to use it in a large amount of channels :)

Authentic colour and performance
These really sound and respond like vintage 1176s, and for me the jump in quality and character was worth the upgrade from the legacy 1176 which came bundled with my interface. And that one was pretty nice to start with.

Great upgrade...
... from the legacy ones. Always have this on bass now and it's great for bg vox as well! Very fun to play with the different models which has different responses to the tracks. Great to record with for instance the grey one and track with the silver model.

Lives on my drum tracks and great for rock vocals. Like the AE-version best. The difference from the legacy ones are super well worth the purchase!

One of the best...
... sounding plugins I've ever used. Wish I had the DSP to run this on all channels. Sounds beautifully when the preamp gets pushed and the compressor and EQ fits me perfectly! This one in combination with the Studer on all channels would be a dream setup!

I love the sound of this plugin collection. Ever since I have purchased it, it has been a huge part of my production and mixes. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that the 1176 collection will add value to you as an engineer.
