Great compressor
The DBX 160 is a great asset to my mix template. If you need some aggressive but musical compression this thing will do the job. As insert compression it gets out the low volume information very nicely and can slam the heck out of something. In parallel it can add very nice glue to kicks and snares, bass guitar and vocals that have a big dynamic range.

The API Sound
For those that are familiar with the API console, you will immediately be reminded of the API sound using this Bus Compressor. I have just began to work with the plugin and it is very impressive. UAD has done it again. :-)

Love it!
This is an awesome sounding plugin that adds just the right amount of that little something extra. By putting this plugin on the final mix bus it has helped even out my mix and give it a more analog feel and sound.

The finishing touch on the mixdown bus
I am now using the UAD Studer A800 on my individual tracks with the Ampex on the mixdown bus, which feeds the print track. I'm an old analog gal (dating back to 1988) and now, thanks to UAD I am once again faithfully analog all the way down my signal chain, start to finish. When I have time, I want to instantiate the Ampex on each of my stereo threads being fed to my hardware summing amp - I think it could be stellar. My projects are primarily blues related, pretty "old school" and they scream for analog. The Ampex gives me a mixdown sound that is faithful to the hardware, and frankly I could not be happier, nor could my clients.

Lexicon Love!
This is one of the few hardware units I have not used but I must say I was impressed with the thick lush sound this plugin gives. The plates sound wonderful on this plugin, great for adding some space to any instrument. Now all UA needs to do is an emulation of the Lexicon 240 and the Lexicon PCM 70 (both of which I have used many times and always loved) and come out with a lexicon collection bundle.

Swiss Knife and Coloration Tool
The Manley VOXBOX really shines on vocal sources. With subtle settings the plugin adds a beautiful finishing touch and a certain analog vibe. The preamp is beautiful and adds an interesting character and tone. The plugin offers some nice options for coloration. The quality of the harmonic distortion might not suit any source, but where it does, it adds a unique set of sonic qualities. As with the hardware version, the VOXBOX is a character box. You either like what it does and it suits your recording and mixing style or not. I love the grit it can add to sources and I really like what it does in terms of coloration on the master buss. This thing suits my style and I like that!

Amazing!
I have used the LA2a hardware my entire career (21 years). Every studio I have been to has one and I always make sure to try it out on something. I have always love the LA2a on vocals, bass, acoustic/ electric guitar, I have even used it for brass and string instruments with great results. When I tried the plugin I was thrilled with the sound. Plus when you purchase the collection you get the 3 different versions of the hardware, each giving its own unique character and sound. I have been using the plugin for a few months now and I'm still impressed at how authentic they sound. Thank you to the great minds at UA for completely changing the game of "in the box mixing", what a great time to be alive!

API-2500 finally
I have been waiting for UA to release this plugin for a long time and now that I have it I am not disappointed. This is one of the best bus compressors out there. It adds a character to your mix that no other buss compressor can. Having the API-2500, SSL G Channel and the Neve 33609 gives me all the options I need for character and tone.

More useful to me than the 'Real thing'
I have never been a fan of this Piece of gear, this UAD plug in changes that.
I would like UA to retro fit the HR control to all plug ins please, this is singularly the most useful advance since the 'mix/blend' control.

API 2500 Bus Compressor
I've been using the Waves 2500 for years, so I was excited to see a UAD version. My expectations were far exceeded. This is as close to the hardware than anything else I've heard.
