super!
Had the legacy version since the early days of the UAD, but this revamped version sounds a lot clearer and more open.. No Brainer!

"My Go-To" Vocal Compressor
Previously using Logic Pro 9 native plugs to compress my vocals, I would often have to work very hard to employ serial or parallel compression techniques, fiddling with the settings until I could get my vocal to sound good on its own, let alone within the mix. The LA-2A plug's simple settings and distinct and sought after "coloration" allows me to spend more time focusing mix overall, rather than fussing over the vocals. Use the LA-2A when you need your compression to be "transparent" with a just a little added warmth.

LA-2A Collection
Love these!!! Especially the LA-2 and the warmth you get just by putting it in the chain.

EQ as it Should Sound
Like the original hardware, it is very difficult to get a bad sound out of these no matter how much boosting or cutting you seem to be doing. Between the EQP-1a and the MEQ-5 you can cover a surprising amount of ground. Even given the limited frequency notches, I don't find myself wishing I had more selections. Aside from how well these modules do as an EQ, the vibe you get from just putting this in your signal chain is great. Super rich and fat. Whether I'm using any EQ or not, the EQP-1 or the MEQ-5 will always be on my master buss just for the warmth.

Oh Yeah!
This Eq is so pleasing to my ears. For color I used it for mastering for the first time ever and I was just blown away. Oh Yeah! :-)

Ua do it again!
I was seriously considering buying a 500 series pultec style eq.
Until I heard the pultec collection at work. The legacy model is fantastic I agree, but the collection has everything you need in eq plug ins! It's character too is undeniable. Great plugs, great sound I'm sold!
Would be as well selling all my hardware and other plugins the way ua is making these!

More subtle than the 1st version
Great EQ!!! I use it on most projects-not all! This and the original version of the plug definitely have a "thing" gong on in the high mids. More subtle and refined on the new version though!
There's a cool thing that this does on a buss that almost gives the illusion of doing something really cool to the stereo field, which it isn't messing that up at all. If you have a mix that is kinda meh sounding throw this on and check it out, you literally don't have to set anything. Just running it in the signal path will color it in a cool way!
Should have been a free upgrade though!

Good, not great
This is a really good upgrade to the UAD 1 version. I find myself using it less often though. I can't tell if it's the love affair I'm having with the newer 1176 revision or I'm just not that bowled over by this one!
On vocals and acoustic guitar (if I want "that" sound) it's really good, but when I need gooey color I'll find myself using the new Fairchild more often.
I also think all these "revisions" should have been free for the users that actually bought the original version (maybe not the folks who got it for free though?)! Considering this is my 3rd UAD device (2 previous ones discontinued), I've invested quite a bit into the company! Funny they decided to give 1/2 of the 610 plug for free to Apollo users. Kinda weird!

A tool that does what it shoud do
Sure everybody wants a Pultec style eq? Well for what reason? In my opinion it all about size, what a real tube amp could bring to the table!
We all trie to make the loudest and fatest mixes and there is plenty of ways to get there. But to strap a pair of pultecs on the drumbus or on the mixbus has it's very own way of adding a third dimension, fuller bas and a airy top.
Now with some of the harmonic content emulated its finally possible to use this sort of tool very early on in the mix and save the real deal for the masterbus. Also makes the recall part more speedy as you only has to patch up your analoug masterbus chain.

Stunning!
Well worth the price of admission. All of the revisions have their own unique set of characteristics. Great purchase!

Genius!
Had it for 2 weeks and already using the grey edition on almost every single track I produce. Warms things up amazingly, and works surprisingly great on bass!

Fantastic
Smooth sounding and transparent, the Pultec is a great EQ and plugin. I use it all the time. It's easily one of my favorite plugins.

Another must have in the engineer's toolbox
The new LA-2A Collection is another beauty from UA, great work! The plug-ins give you instant gratification during mixing with various subtle flavors to choose from. The LA-2A Collection is another must have in the engineer's toolbox. As all the more life-like emulations demand more and more processing power, all we need now is a daisy-chainable Thunderbolt UAD DUO-DECA (12 DSP) card...

Perfect for multi-takes or comping
When doing multiple takes audio tends to sound slightly different from each other, especially with vocalists.
The worst is when they take a sip of that water, instant brightness.
The LA-2 with its super slow release fixes all this.
Simply (seriously simple to use) amazing.

Magic box
It's a funny thing for me now to want to have an eq which is very subtle.I don't mean to say that you can't turn the effect right up on this unit but each time I use the Pultec its one freq at a time and a little tickle goes such a long way.
I used the high pass / low pass mod on an old track that had a muddy bottom end and turned the high pass up one notch from the off or zero position.
The sad thing is I think a lot of people are going to start using this thing and its sound will become a bit common.
But that's not bad because that's a sweet sound to have all around the place !

Beautiful Hardware
This software version of the Leveler is so faithful to the original. I am so glad that I purchased it.

Awesome
Just used it tracking bass - and man what a feeling... And listening back... what can I say: Awesome

LA-2A collection, must have
As the legacy version of this was a got to have on many of
my tracks I did not think it could really be that different on the
new collection of these to warrant the expense.
I was mistaken, these have a great sound and expand the options
for coloring quite a bit.
Thanks UA

Incredibly authentic
I admit I haven't used more than iteration of the LA2A, so the different versions i cant speak for. however; The one I am familiar with, sounds perfect, using the same pre, going into a real LA2A into the apollo using a true system precision 8, one real, one emulated, mic splitter, accurate down to the sample. Pretty incredible.
