Gives good depth
Enjoying this plugin. I put it on most things. It gives nice space and dimension.

Years later
It’s disconcerting that after all these years this plugin still doesn’t recall its settings when I close and reopen a project (in DP11). I have learned to put the settings in as CC data but, really? How hard can it be to make a plugin remember its settings in a DAW? Many thousands of plugins do it flawlessly on the daily. Room sounds really good though! So it’s worth the hassle.

For me better than Sound City Studios
I tried this one and Sound City Studios for western guitar and vocal and found the Ocean Way Studios producing the far better sound for my purpose. The rendering of the plugin, however, is compared with the Sound City Studios plug in extremely slow. Only for that reason one star less.

Great sounding - but also outdated GUI and hefty load
Undoubtedly an extraordinarily fine sound. But - UAAudio needs to make sure the plugin gets a more modern GUI. Resizable. Also, the plug requires DSP power, so don't expect an Apollo Twin to go far.
But the sound is just wonderful!

Great plugin, worth checking out.
This is a great plugin.
For the price / application I think you're better off getting the new UAD Sound City plugin. It's the same concept (IR verb of a famous studio that's highly customizable) but the UI of the Sound City plugin is superior to this -- it's also native. I also prefer the sound of the Sound City room to this, but that's subjective.
Ocean Way Studios is still a great plugin and I suggestion trying the demo to see if you like it.

One of a kind sound with insane DSP load
I bought this because I demoed it in an empty project. That was a mistake. The sound is remarkable and I honestly have never heard a plugin resemble this one- not even the other UAD reverbs. However, when I finally started using it, it started overloading my cores, even when my DSP was not near capacity. I wrote UA and they were extremely informative and helpful. But, ultimately, they described to me that the reverb needs to exist on a single core. So, if you're already working with multiple plugins that are spread across different cores, the OWS plugin won't have any room on any one core and overload everything. That's a pain. I wish I had demoed it in a real life session before buying it. To not end on a negative note- it really is incredible sounding. Just be aware that you need to put this into your session as early as possible or else you might be locked out of using it.

Very interesting
As a concept, this is the future we hoped for. Turn your room into the best room? Yes.
Sometimes there’s too much info displayed.
Get it for your room to sound like a better room.

Great for rock
Very usefull on drums and guitars gives a nice subtle ambience pleased I got it for 80 at Xmas . I would recommend, even though it's old it's very good still

Great room! But..
Increíble useful plugin. You can create amazing spaces in your mixes. I use a lot on drums, but you can put anything on it.
Unfortunately, the GUI is not up to the sound, is tinny, old and low resolution.
UAD please update your graphics and make them resizable, we’re in 2022!

Interesting mashup of effects.
I like this. I had a good feeling about it; and it really was a valuable addition to a long list of plug ins. It's both a good seasoning of room ambience that you can add in if you want a nice acoustic environment 'substituted' while in re-mic mode (which is auto %100 wet) and there are nice mic emulations to experiment with in that mode. Or, if you want to use it more like a reverb; it's good like that, as well. I've given 4 out of 5 bc there are a few things that would have made it more useful, and I don't understand why they have that kind of limitations built in. For instance, if you want to use certain mics, you have to use the set up for a recording of a type of instrument that you might not be using. This may result in immersing your recording in a part of the room that wasn't quite as optimal for what you were really recording. And, actually I do appreciate the professional suggestion of where the mics should be, as a default, but I would have given all 5 stars if there were a little more flexibility to move the mic pairs on a left right axis and if you could move the place where you are recording around within the room instead of having to choose that you are recording a choir, or strings, to get your source 'placed' in a different part of the room. That changes the mic choice that you have. Also, don't do that. I know it's not specifically a mic emulation plug in. So, I wouldn't expect there to be a giant selection of different mic choices. But, whatever mics you do offer use of within the plug in, should be available for whatever set up, or source that the user wants to record. Other than those few critiques on what could have been better, I would definitely recommend giving this one a shot. It changes your recordings in a very pleasing and uncommon way. I think it's good for people who record actual instruments in less than ideal settings. It also works to give a more realistic sound to virtual instruments. A lot of value for the buck, even if it is a little pricey. The three sets of mics with separate levels and panning allow you to create an original stereo image for even mono tracks that is very interesting. Or, you can just use one pair and get a new sound out of your original track by changing the distance/type of mic used.

Great on drums
Great plugin to create a sense of space and get a massive drum sound. Also works well on vocals if you want to add interest. Doesn’t work on everything though so audition first but all in all a great plugin!

Great but desperate
The Ocean way studios sounds great, but sometimes, the audio is forced off when the plugin is in a session, it seems in a way that the plugin exceeds the capability of the DSP within the APOLLO but even when neither the DAW is overloaded nor the APOLLO DSP is overloaded the audio just gets off with no sound, forcing myself to put this particular plugin OFF and restart the session. That's disappointing taking into account the high price of this plugin. otherwise great sounding, but not very reassuring in terms of getting your DAW running properly.

Give the space to your instruments

A secret weapon for studios with a small room or in the box productions
I record my drums in a 20x18" room and get a great punchy sound.... nevertheless, I don't have that big studio tall cieling sound....When needed I use the Ocean Way Studios on a stereo insert and send my room mics to it...... and print it as a 2nd big studio room mic..
Great sound, I prefer the mic modeling over the reverb.. Great on strings as well..

great but a few issues
This is a great sounding plugin especially for DI guitars or elements that sound too in the box and need some life. But it doesn't work on everything and it is a bit of a one trick pony. My main issue is that the presets suck. Can we get some artist presets? thank you!

Amazing big natural room modeling
It took a while for me to pull the trigger on this nice plugin, I didn't think it was going to make that much of a difference than a regular Reverb etc, but I was totally wrong, it does sound like if my drums where recorded in such a big nice room as the Ocean Way Studios, I didn't put 5 stars on it just because it is quite DSP hungry, but I love it all the way.

Bloom Life Into Your Room
A great sounding reverb. I don't have access to naturally nice sounding rooms so I try to record as dry as possible and use ocean way to give life to my recordings with great results. Dialing in Ocean Way blooms natural sounding reverb that makes it seem like I recorded in a much nice space.
Mic positioning is not movable so you can only get predefined sweet spots. They're probably the tried and true best placements of Ocean Way but having the flexibility to move the mic placement for artistic aesthetics would make it a 5 star plugin.

It works
This is really useful, It’s rather hungry for your shark processor, anyway it provides your a good room for your voice or instrument, so I like it. It’s good deal.
