Ampex ATR-102 is the Best! No Question!

I’ve used the real deal. Whenever I load the plug I wanna align the machine… It’s funny. I guess it just seems that real. I have other tape emulation plug-ins and the UAD smokes em all. When you decided to slap it on the end of a mix it’ll shock you every time and you'll wonder why you didn’t add it on sooner. This is absolutley one of my desert island plug-ins. Play with the high-end adjustments. Try it with the noise in and out too. The Ampex is the best tape emulator I’ve used and I bet it’ll be yours too! Great job UA! It's really one there very best! Secret weapon

I didn't have the luxury of working with the original hardware, so I'm going to go purely on how this 'feels' and 'sounds' to me... this thing brings out many of the wonderful textures of tracks that might be hidden in the digital depths. I tend to not hit it too hard in most cases, just adding a little bit of sweeting. But as many will attest to, this thing is a cumulative effect across all the tracks. Especially going into the Ampex.

Definitely one of the indispensable plugins to acquire!

It has served me well to give that great final color to my recent productions for short films, and also to emulate the sound of some films around the 60s - 70s.

I've recently bought this plugin and really I thought it was a joke! but the Studer A800 is really a great plugin it helps me to fatten my sounds any track I put it on, it does what it was build`t to do...., am loving it :)

Excellent Tape Saturation & Control

Have been really pleased with the quality of saturation and tonality that you can achieve with this plugin. Excellent for vocals and other elements that need a specific tonal character or non-linearity to stand out in the mix.

The tape warmth... like no one else

I've used a lot of tape plugins, but this one is the magnum opus of tape machine emulation. The amount of controls and tonal characters gives you the ability to craft and shape sounds like no other plugin.

With the studer you can get that beefy low end, sounds amazing on almost anything.

Kind of wondering if I could give mastering my own stuff a shot now given how GREAT this ATR-102 sounds on the mix buss. Everything is instantly more 3D with wonderful clarity.

Insta vibe

Noise and hum... i am very happy it can be left as with the original unit, and even more happy when I can turne it off. Then you get natural sounding compression and silk saturation with a pristine sound track. A little goes a long way. you can burn your audio if you want to, then it sounds distorted and can be an FX machine. But subtle is its strength.

Fantastic emulation

I've always loved what tape does to audio, UAD really nailed with this plugs. Yo can achieve great harmonic distortion, smooth transients, but what i found most interesting from it is DEPHT. You will be surprise by the most subtle important change on your mixes.

Best sounding tape emulator out there

Amazing in the mastering chain, so much to tweak to get your own sound. Sounds great on percussion and bass in a mix as well. CPU heavy but still one of the better UAD plugins

This plug is not just amazing with tape grain and color but it adds delay overlap between L and R channel like a real tape! Incredibly organic well done guys!!

If you still pine for the sound of analog records that breathe and move while still being tightly glued together this plug-in is exactly what you need. Very versatile. You can change the quality and feel of your final mix just by trying various tape stocks and speeds. I run it after the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor for a totally yummy analog sound!

Is it witchcraft?!

Coming from tape only era I was sceptical about anything digital. How you have successfully recreated this fabulous machine in a digital format is beyond me.
Without a doubt the best plug in. Subtle. Smooth. Which is how I prefer to hear recorded sounds. I use it on everything. Makes me feel like it's 1978 again.

A real tape sound, finally

I am a new comer in this world, I mean the audio recording and all. I am a classical guitar player and a singer too. I am getting familiar with the plug-ins created by the other great companies. I have seen other Tape Emulations too. But after purchasing the UAD Magnetic Tape Bundle, I'm speechless. I can hardly describe or define it. I really don't know how did they do it. It is impossible to create such analog warmth and tape sound in software world. I'm overwhelmed with wonder. Great plug-ins, seriously, perhaps the greatest.
